Did you know a single phone call is all it could take to ensure legal equality for women under the US Constitution?

Technically, the deadline for states to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment passed in 1982. But since then, thanks to a recent push from activists in Nevada, Illinois and Virginia, it’s been ratified by enough states to meet the three-quarters requirement.

Many legal scholars argue that the deadline isn’t Constitutional, and the ERA could be added to the Bill of Rights immediately. All that’s needed is for President Biden to call up—or, more likely, write—the national archivist and direct her to publish it.

Right now, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand is at the forefront of an effort to push President Biden to establish his legacy and publish the Equal Rights Amendment as the 28th Amendment to the US Constitution.

We’re standing with her and asking all of our members to please call the White House switchboard at 202-456-1111 register their support for the ERA.

Press and hold 202-456-1111 to open this number on your phone app.

You can say something like:

President Biden must do everything within his power to protect reproductive care for all women before Republicans take control of government. That’s why I’m calling for the certification and publication of the Equal Rights Amendment. The Equal Rights Amendment has met all of the requirements and just needs a signature from the national archivist to become our 28th Amendment. Please direct the national archivist to certify and publish the ERA now. Thank you.

Alternatively, you can message the White House via email.

The Equal Rights Amendment would make discrimination on the basis of sex—including restrictions on reproductive health care that single out women—unconstitutional. This is our last, best chance to enshrine equality in the Constitution before Republicans take unified control of government next month.
