Democrats just won ANOTHER special House election, this time in Alaska. Also this time: Women increased our numbers in Congress!
Congratulations to Mary Peltola, the first Alaska Native in Congress, and the first woman to represent Alaska’s at-large House seat!
Mary led early in the vote count, and because the election was conducted with ranked-choice voting, the third-place candidate’s votes were redistributed to the top two candidates (Mary and Sarah Palin). Nearly 30 percent of the third-place finisher’s votes went to Mary, putting her over 50 percent.
After last night’s victory, Cook Political Report moved this district from Likely R to Toss Up for the general election. Mary is facing the same field of candidates—lets help her win a full term!
Pitch in $5 or more to her by giving to our 2022 Alaska slate.
