This week we hit two campaign season milestones:
- VP Harris and Donald Trump met in their first debate, and Kamala crushed it. Now we wait and see if her commanding performance moves the polls.
- We have results in the final primaries: Former Manchester Mayor Joyce Craig is the official Democratic nominee for Governor in New Hampshire, and Maggie Goodlander won the primary in NH-2, meaning a woman will likely hold this Democratic seat. And as expected, Rep. Lisa Blunt Rochester is the Senate nominee in Delaware, and state Sen. Sarah McBride will be the at-large House nominee. Both will make history with their expected wins in November.
- Kamala Harris, President: While it’s true the Harris-Walz campaign raised $361 million dollars in August—triple what Trump’s campaign raised—outside groups already have a plan to spend half a billion dollars on his behalf.
- Debbie Mucarsel-Powell, US Senate, Florida: New polls have this race in a dead heat. And it’s good that the seat is within reach, because it now seems more likely Democrats will lose Montana’s Senate seat.
- Angela Alsobrooks, US Senate, Maryland: Polls also have this race in a dead heat, and former Gov. Larry Hogan and allies are flooding the airwaves with $8 million in ads, while Angela has reserved less than $1 million.
- Sue Altman, US House, NJ-7: Cook rates this flippable seat a tossup, but Sue is being outraised by incumbent Rep. Thomas Kean by $1 million.
- Janelle Bynum, US House, OR-5: Another tossup race, where incumbent Rep. Lori Chavez-Deremer has outraised Janelle by $1.5 million.
- Missy Cotter Smasal, US House, VA-2: This Lean R race is the only competitive seat in Virginia being contested by a woman. Missy has been outraised by incumbent Rep. Jen Kiggans by nearly $3 million.
- Rebecca Cooke, US House, WI-3: Another Lean R race, where incumbent Rep. Derrick Van Orden has outraised Rebecca by nearly $3 million.
- Joyce Craig, Governor, New Hampshire: This is now the only tossup gubernatorial race according to Cook. Joyce needs to start raising fast after clenching her primary win.
Meghan: We have 54 days left to elect VP Harris president, save the Senate, flip the House, and flip the NH governor’s office.

And stay tuned for more updates as these races evolve.
