It’s hard to believe tonight’s presidential debate is airing just 75 days before the Iowa caucuses. And though the field has narrowed, everything is still uncertain. In fact, the largest primary field in recent history is still expanding.
Only 10 people will be on the debate stage though, including Kamala Harris, Amy Klobuchar and Elizabeth Warren—who all need our help to remain viable. But they’re not the only ones. In 2020, Iowa also features a critical US Senate race and three critical US House races. Congressional primaries are later in the year—but the candidates need our help now.
Supporting these races is the point of our new collection of Early States slates: Harness the enthusiasm at the top of the ticket to raise for candidates down-ballot.
Theresa Greenfield (US Senate) has made preserving Social Security a cornerstone of her campaign, because she relied on it to support her family as a young widow. Democrats have to flip at least three seats to regain control of the Senate in 2020, and she could be one of them.
Rep. Cindy Axne (IA-3) & Rep. Abby Finkenauer (IA-1) are both freshmen who flipped seats last year but are sitting in razor-thin swing districts—Rep. Finkenauer’s leans Democratic by 1 point and Rep. Axne’s leans Republican by 1 point.
Rita Hart (IA-2) is running for the seat being vacated by Democratic Rep. Dave Loebsack. It’s not a safe seat though. We need to hold it and put another woman in Congress.
As you tune into tonight’s debate, spare a thought and $5—for these down-ballot races!
