While Virginia and New Jersey are the only states with regularly scheduled state legislative elections this year, there are special elections happening in other states.

The next specials are Tuesday, August 26, and there are two flippable seats in Georgia and Iowa.

Check out our updated 2025 Special Elections slate and rush a donation to these women:

  • Debra Shigley (Georgia SD-21) is a former employment attorney and mom of five. This district was left vacant when the incumbent was appointed to serve in the Trump administration. Although SD-21 leans Republican, candidates run in a single primary—and Debra, as the only Democrat running, is hoping she can consolidate enough votes to box out the other candidates and make it into a top-two runoff in September. The GOP has a trifecta in Georgia, but a Senate pickup would be a big win for Dems.
  • Catelin Drey (Iowa SD-01) is a small business owner and founder of the grassroots advocacy group Moms for Iowa. This district was left vacant after the incumbent passed away in June. It also leans Republican, but Democrats have historically overperformed in Iowa’s special elections. If Catelin wins, she’ll break the chamber’s Republican supermajority.

Please give now to our 2025 Special Elections slate so these women have the funding they need to flip and hold these critical down-ballot seats.
