On May 3, the San Antonio mayoral election went into a runoff, with Democrat and former Air Force undersecretary Gina Ortiz Jones leading Republican and former senior advisor to Gov. Greg Abbott Rolando Pablos 27% to 17%.

Polling for the June 7 runoff so far has no candidate winning a majority and the undecided vote approaching 30%, meaning even though Gina is leading at this point, there is enough uncertainty for an upset.

San Antonio has a strong history of electing female mayors. In 1975 the city elected its first female mayor, Lila Cockrell, making San Antonio the largest city in America at that time to be governed by a woman. And in 2013, voters elected Ivy Taylor as the city’s second female and first Black mayor.

We want to make sure that trend continues this year. Please give to Gina, a former two-time candidate for Congress, via our 2025 Mayors slate to help her run strong into the June 7 runoff election.

On this slate you can also support four other candidates vying to ensure women are represented as mayors in major cities:

  • Dorcey Applyrs, running to become the second female and first Black female mayor of Albany, NY. The primary is June 24.
  • Whitney Stevens, running to be Tacoma, WA’s third female mayor in a row. The primary is August 5.
  • Michelle Wu, running for re-election as the first woman and first person of color to lead Boston. The primary is September 23.
  • Mary Sheffield, running to become the first Black female mayor of Detroit. The election is November 4. There is no primary.

Please give ASAP to ensure Gina and the rest of these women are fully funded.
