Each November, Native American Heritage Month invites us to honor the original peoples of this land—their histories, cultures and ongoing leadership in every part of American life.

For us, it’s a chance to lift up the Native women who are reshaping our democracy right now.

Check out our revamped Growing Native Power slate and support these four women who have made history climbing the political ladder.

  • Deb Haaland (Laguna Pueblo) made history as the first Native American cabinet secretary when she became Secretary of the Interior. Now, she’s running for New Mexico governor.
  • Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan (White Earth Nation), Minnesota’s 50th lieutenant governor and the first woman of color elected to statewide office there. She’s running for US Senate.
  • Rep. Sharice Davids (Ho-Chunk), who represents KS-3 in the US House. Alongside Deb Haaland, she was one of the first two Native American women elected to Congress.
  • Erin Farris-Olsen (Brothertown Indian Nation), a nonprofit leader and former clerk for the Montana Supreme Court who is running for state Senate in 2026.

If we want more leaders like them, we have to invest in the work it takes to elect and support them. Give now to our Growing Native Power slate.
