We’re at a tipping point on impeachment.
Late last week, a whistleblower complaint revealed that Donald Trump is again attempting to collude with a foreign power to damage a political opponent.
Since then, 13 more Democrats have come out in favor or impeachment—including five Democratic freshman women in districts that Donald Trump won in 2016: Mikie Sherrill (NJ-11, R+1), Angie Craig (MN-2, R+1), Elaine Luria (VA-2, R+3), Abigail Spanberger (VA-7, R+7) and Elissa Slotkin (MI-8, R+7). The total count of House Democrats publicly calling for impeachment is 165 and rising.
Four out of these five have a background in national security, and in calling for impeachment they explicitly named Donald Trump as a national security threat.
If these women in some of the toughest 2020 races have the courage to call for impeachment—on the basis that the President is a threat to our safety—the holdup in the rest of the Democratic caucus can’t last long.
