When we expanded our platform in the fall to allow crowdfunding for state legislative candidates in Virginia, we took a risk. It takes time, money and (wo)manpower to venture from federal to state fundraising.
It turns out we made the right call: In a few short weeks, we crowd-raised nearly $25,000 for state legislative candidates in Virginia, and grew our small-dollar donor base by 20 percent. The average donation was under $50. And remember: 11 of the 15 districts that flipped were won by women!
Now, we want to expand again —– to target competitive statehouse districts and governorships across the country for 2018. But updating the platform to integrate with state races adds costs, and now we need to raise $20,000 to make that happen.
Can you help get us there by chipping in $25 or more to our Crowdfunding for Crowdfunding slate?
Defending the Senate and taking back the House are still top priorities for us. But we also know that victories in state races will help us prevent a host of GOP ills: rampant gerrymandering, voter suppression and even a Constitutional convention.
If these trends continue unchecked, they could lock us out of power forever —– not to mention the fact that they are, frankly, undemocratic. That’s why we want to expand our crowdfunding platform into state races next year.
Thank you,
