With your help WomenCount has raised more than $20,000 for women running for the Virginia statehouse —– and now we’re thrilled to announce one of our generous donors has issued a new dollar-for-dollar match!
We’re down to 36 hours before the polls open in Virginia, and the races we’re watching are still uncomfortably tight.
Specifically, Democratic Lt. Gov. Ralph Northam’s lead over Republican Ed Gillespie is at 2 points, which could hurt down-ballot Democrats, who need a Democratic wave to carry the 17 seats they need to take back control of the House of Delegates.
These Democrats need help —– fast. So we have a proposition for you: Give $5 to each of the women on one of our Virginia slates by 5 PM Monday, and a generous donor will match you dollar-for-dollar.
Give to our Virginia is for Lovers of Democracy slate.
Give to Local Majority’s slate.
Give to our Hillary Effect slate.
Today, we also want to introduce a brand new national group you can give to through WomenCount called Silicon Valley Action. This year and next, they’re focusing on races where gaining control of redistricting power in the legislature will be key —– and right now, that starts with winning in Virginia.
We want you to give, because your donation helps us build grassroots fundraising power for the next critical race. But if you’re tapped out, please get in touch with Sister District for a virtual phone bank, or let the Virginia Democratic Party know that you’re local and you want to canvass during GOTV.
Not a single one of us can sit out these races.
