Lara McDowell | Women Fighting Gender-Based Violence and Gender Inequality
Hi, I’m Lara McDowell, a rising junior at the Nueva School! I’m passionate about gun reform, reproductive rights, and advocating for gender equality. Women face increased difficulties running for and being elected to office, and often don’t have the political bandwidth to make fighting for women’s issues a significant part of their platform. Candidates on this slate have shared their struggles as working mothers and survivors of domestic violence, and I wanted to highlight their stories and their passion for supporting women. These candidates have sponsored updates to the Violence Against Women Act and used their voices to advocate for women nationwide while in Congress.
