It’s been a late-breaking cycle so far for governors’ races. But now, less than two weeks from Election Day, we’re seeing a flurry of activity: Swinging polls, ratings changes and money pouring in.
Here are three candidates to fund now:
#1 Joyce Craig, New Hampshire (Flip, Toss Up)
This is the only toss up governors’ race in the country, as well as the best chance Democrats have of flipping a seat. But that chance might be slipping away: A new poll shows Republican Kelly Ayotte leading Democrat Joyce Craig by a point.
#2 Jennifer McCormick, Indiana (Flip, Likely R)
The Democratic Governors Association has spent $1.1 million in this race since Oct. 1, after the organization’s polling showed Democrat Jennifer McCormick within the margin of error against Republican Mike Braun. And last week, Cook moved the race from Solid to Likely R.
#3 Rachel Hunt, LG, North Carolina (Hold, Lean D)
After Republican Mark Robinson’s meltdown a month ago, Democrat Josh Stein’s chance of winning has increased exponentially, with Cook moving the race out of the toss up column. But the LG is elected separately, so Rachel Hunt will need a strong coattails effect.
We have a small-but-mighty group of competitive statewide races this year. Let’s make sure they’re fully funded: Chip in $5 or more to each of these candidates ASAP.
